Black Cat Holiday

Black Cat A ghost, though invisible, still is like a place your sight can knock on, echoing; but here within this thick black pelt, your strongest gaze will be absorbed and utterly disappear:just as a raving madman, when nothing else can ease him, charges into his dark night howling, pounds on the padded wall, and feels the rage being taken in and pacified. She seems to hide all looks that have ever fallen into her, so that, like an audience, she can look them over, menacing and sullen, and curl to sleep with them. But all at once as if awakened, she turns her face to yours;and with a shock, you see yourself, tiny, inside the golden amber of her eyeballs suspended, like a prehistoric fly.
Rainer Maria Rilke

Liver Drought

There doesn't seem to be any treats in either of these bags. How unfortunate that you went shopping, thinking entirely of yourself. I shall be in the other room trying to increase the space between us.

Sincerely,

Max

Mr. Fine quoting Mr.Emerson

"Let not a cat guard his dignity, but let his dignity guard him."

Francie's Favorite Rug

Francis, is that your favorite rug? "Ya!" Should every cat have a cabin? "Ya!"

Opening Night

May I suggest wearing something black this evening? I find it most suitable for all occasions. Sincerely, Max

Dehumanizing Thought

The glass is neither a glass half empty nor a glass half full. It is simply a glass of water. And if I hear it correctly, the glass is begging to be left alone. Sincerely, Max

Escaping the Rat Race

Max and Francis saying goodbye to all things summer and settling into their fall schedule at the cabin. See birds-scold birds, see squirrels-scold squirrels, sleep, eat, request liver, race around the loft, pose by fireplace, get underfoot, eat, fill litter box, spill water, surf the counter top, score some dental floss, sleep, eat, start over.

Indeed, I do have a list of things to do today.

Unfortunately, this part of my day does not include you. Sincerely, Max

Spanks and Thanks

Francis loves to start out her quality time with little spanks. Then she peddles herself into place on the human hammock and settles down for a little R&R. Click here to see Francie's bald heels.

I'm a Mighty Tomcat- I'm a Mighty Cat!

Max and Francis love lounging in the laundry basket (click to see video). Max seizes every opportunity to claim the cabin carryall as his private lair. Sometimes Francie (unwittingly) has an advantage. You'll notice this bout ends in a stalemate.

Francis the Hunter

Francis is a natural born hunter. She chatters the day away at high wire squirrels and clueless chickadees that stop by to graze on seed. When Francis is not hunting the urban wildlife she zeroes in on the store bought spotted trout and stone age coloraturasaurs.

Max in the Morning

I am awake now. I want to know if you plan on parboiling any chicken parts today or is this going to be another day riddled with excuses about work? No liver, no lap time. Please, don't be late for work. Sincerely, Max
